The public is invited to attend the City of Watsonville’s First State of the City Address on August 10, 2016 in the Civic Plaza Council Chambers located at 275 Main Street, top floor. Delivered by City Manager Charles Montoya and Police Chief David Honda, this free event begins at 5:30 p.m. and is co-sponsored by the City of Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture. Everyone is welcomed to attend and stay for a reception immediately following the event.
Join us as we celebrate the many accomplishments of the past year, as well as look to what’s ahead in 2016. The diversity of our residents and the energy of our businesses and City leaders, together have created a unique moment in the history of this growing city. Together, we can ensure that Watsonville is one of the premier cities of the Monterey Bay.
Here is a list of some of the major projects on the horizon:
- 1482 Freedom Boulevard – 24 unit single family housing project
- 221 Airport Blvd. – 48 unit townhomes
- 35 Harkins Slough Road – 48 unit townhomes
- 398 Technology – 40,000 square foot office building
- 1715 W. Beach Street –multiple retail use
- 445 Main Street – 54 downtown apartments
- 56 Atkinson Lane – 46 unit affordable housing
- Fairfield Inn – 89 hotel rooms
- 1775 Santa Victoria Avenue – 89 Units
- La Quinta Inn – Western Drive – 70 hotel rooms
- Fed-Ex Distribution Center – opening soon
- City of Watsonville’s high-speed fiber network expansion
These projects will help pave the way to creating a more vibrant Watsonville, drawing new visitors, attracting new businesses and creating more jobs. All interested members of the community are encouraged to attend as we take a look back at the successes of 2015 and look ahead to the City’s future.
