WATSONVILLE, CA β€” More details were released about a three-vehicle crash that shut down Freedom Boulevard late Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Watsonville Police Department, the incident on the busy roadway began when a man driving an Acura sedan sped away from officers who were trying to pull him over for a traffic violation. From there, a police chase started but was cancelled because of the man’s reckless driving, the WPD reported.

The suspect continued to drive erratically and crashed head-on into a Honda Civic, injuring the female driver. A third driver tried to avoid the wreck but ended up crashing into the Honda, police said.
