'Erratic' Motorist on Hwy 1 Busted For Alleged DUI

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA – A vehicle was spotted driving erratically Saturday morning in Monterey County and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to CHP, witnesses reported a motorist driving erratically and passing over the double yellow lines on state Highway 1 at Salinas Road near Moss Landing.

Officers at a nearby on-ramp saw a vehicle pass by that matched the suspect vehicle's description and was driving erratically, CHP officials said.

"Officers posted up on a nearby on ramp and observed a vehicle pass by matching the description," the agency said.

The driver was allegedly found in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, CHP officials said.

Officers suspect drug use to be the reason for his alleged impairment, CHP officials said.
