Watsonville Buddhist Temple will be observing its Obon Festival July 17.
At Obon we gather to remember the lives of our loved ones, especially those who have passed away since the last Obon and express our appreciation and gratitude to them. For this reason our Obon celebration is called a Gathering of Joy.
The Obon Festival will begin at 3 p.m. with a silent auction, farmers market, raffle and childrens game booths. You will enjoy food sales of sushi (chirashi, inari, makizushi, sushi combo), udon (Japanese noodles), strawberry shortcake, teriyaki beef sticks, teriyaki hamburgers, corn and drinks will be sold.
