Gun & Roses: Armed Suspect Swipes Blooms & Beer From Area Market

The 20-year-old was arrested for stealing cases of beer and flowers after Watsonville police tracked down his getaway car, officials said.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A 20-year-old reported gang member, accused of stealing a bouquet of roses and cases of beer while armed with a handgun at a local store, was arrested after a brief chase Wednesday night in Watsonville, according to authorities.

A surveillance camera caught Agustin Colin allegedly entering the market about 8:30 p.m., showing the weapon, making off with the alcohol and flowers, and then driving off in a getaway car, the Watsonville Police Department said.

Officers found the car roughly two hours later on the 100 block of Grant Street, and spotted Colin, who was wearing the same clothing from the robbery, the agency said. Colin took off running and tossed a loaded revolver over a fence as a sergeant approached, police said.

He was apprehended after a short pursuit, and officers recovered the weapon and some of the stolen items, according to officials.

Colin faces several charges, along with being a felon in suspected possession of a firearm, police said.

The name of the grocery store targeted in the incident and Colin's city of residence were not released.

Officers are seeking accomplices in the case, and anyone with information can call the Watsonville PD at (831) 768-3300.
