Meet The New Assistant Superintendent Of Secondary Education

Kristen Shouse is filling a position that was vacant since August of this year.

From PVSUD: Kristen Shouse was welcomed by PVUSD’s Board of Trustees at Wednesday’s meeting, filling the position of Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, which as vacated in August. Ms. Shouse will begin on December 10.

“Ms. Shouse has a wide of breadth of experiences in both the public and private sectors that complements the current work that the District is doing to improve student achievement. We look forward to the benefits of her extensive experience working with similar demographics and her innovative, collaborative spirit,” said Dr. Michelle Rodriguez, Superintendent.

Ms. Shouse said, "I am excited to join PVUSD and contribute my skill set to support the student success momentum that the District is currently experiencing. It is an honor to be chosen and I look forward to partnering with sites, students, and families."

Kristen Shouse has worked with youth since early in her career; she was the youngest staff member to be appointed to Program Director of any YMCA in Southern California. While a Deputy Probation Counselor for Orange County, Ms. Shouse received two “Chiefs Awards” for creating and successfully implementing an intense education and vocation program. In 2004, she began her education career as a Teacher/Literacy Facilitator in Gilroy Unified, promoted to Assistant Principal in 2009 then to Administrator overseeing the Secondary Core Curriculum.

In 2015, Ms. Shouse accepted a promotion to Director Curriculum and Instruction and has served as Director or Student Services and Interim Chief Business Officer with the San Benito County Office of Education in Hollister, CA. In San Benito County, she served as the Title III and Bilingual Coordinators Network Liaison, the Lead for the Regional System of District and School Support and LCAP Technical Assistance and Review, as well as created, deployed and analyzed assessment of countywide professional development, which included ELD strategies. She implemented Passport to Success that rewards positive behavior and reduced discipline by over 65% school wide. Ms. Shouse has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Masters in Education and Administrative Credential earned at National University.
