North Monterey County Middle School Stabbing Prompts Lockdown

At least one juvenile was injured and one person has been arrested, officials said.

CASTROVILLE, CA — At least one juvenile was injured and one person has been detained following a stabbing at North Monterey County Middle School this morning, sheriff’s officials said. The stabbing prompted a precautionary lockdown at the school, which has since been lifted.

"One juvenile victim is going to be flown out to a Bay Area Trauma Center," Monterey County Sheriff's Office officials said. "It is not perceived that anymore students are in danger."

Good morning North Monterey County Middle School parents, This is to inform you that our school in currently in shelter in place. One of our students was injured and is being taken care of by emergency personal. This is also to ensure you that safe is our main concern; All other students are safe. Once we are clear, we will go back to operating as normal.

The school is located at 10301 Seymour St. in Castroville.
