Monterey Police Arrest Child Abuse Suspect

MONTEREY, CA -- Police in Monterey on Thursday arrested a man in connection with sexual abuse of a child. Robert Gomez, 26, of Kingsburg, was arrested on suspicion of crimes related to engaging in unlawful sexual acts with a minor, according to the Monterey Police Department.

Police said the 12-year-old victim reported she had been involved in sexual activity with Gomez.

The suspect was taken into custody Thursday in Kingsburg.

At the time of his arrest, Gomez admitted he had been involved in sexual activity with several other teenage girls and exchanging graphic images with several teens, police said.

Investigators are still looking into identities of potential victims and any other possible criminal activity Gomez may have been involved in.

Gomez told investigators he met all the teenage girls through the social media application Snapchat.

He is being held at the Fresno County Jail and, and his bail has been set at $600,000.
