Murder Investigation: Husband Sought As Suspect In Wife's Death

A Watsonville missing person case has turned into a murder investigation, police announced.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A 24-year-old Watsonville woman has been found dead and her husband is sought in connection with her slaying, police said.

Cesar Hernandez, 47, is the chief suspect in the murder investigation, according to a statement from the Watsonville Police Department. Their two young children are safe and staying with family.

His wife was reported missing around 3 a.m. Thursday, police said. Her body was found around noon in Santa Cruz and the county medical examiner is working to determine her cause of death. The family's only known car was also found in Santa Cruz.

Police have tried to get in touch with Hernandez multiple times since his wife's disappearance to no avail.
