NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will sign copies of his new novel for young readers,Streetball Crew #2: Stealing the Game, at the Kaiser Permanente Arena. This will be his only Bay Area book appearance. Stealing the Game is the fast-paced and entertaining story about teamwork, friendship, dark secrets and having blind faith for those in our lives who have earned it. This terrific novel celebrates individuality and tackles substantive issues like building self-esteem. (Grades 5–7)
Please note that this is a book signing, not a book talk. While you are waiting for your numbered ticket to be called to meet Kareem and have your book signed, we invite you to hang with Santa Cruz Warriors players, take photos with team mascot Mav’Riks, visit center court, and play fun games.
A portion of all ticket sales from this event will benefit the Santa Cruz Warriors Read to Achieve Program which encourages children’s literacy and provides new books to Santa Cruz School classrooms and libraries.
