New Asst. Principals For Watsonville High, Rolling Hills Middle

Joseph Gregorio takes the spot at Watsonville High School, while Selene Munoz Casas is appointed at Rolling Hills Middle School.

WATSONVILLE, CA — As kids ready for back to school this week, they will see new assistant principals at two schools. The Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Joseph Gregorio to assistant principal at Watsonville High School and the appointment of Selene Munoz Casas to assistant principal at Rolling Hills Middle School.

The position at Watsonville High School has been open, and Gregorio is fairly new to administrative work. In 2004, he started his teaching career at Cesar Chavez Middle School as a PE teacher. From 2005-2010, he worked at St. Francis Central Coast High as a world history and PE teacher, while also serving as social studies department chair, head football coach, facilities and
maintenance director and assistant athletic director.

Gregorio returned to the PVUSD to serve as the PE department chair and head football coach at Pajaro Valley High School. This past summer, he assumed his first administrative position as summer school principal at Watsonville High.

Gregorio has been recognized for multiple awards, including the Belgard Kup Championship, SCCAL Football Coach of the Year, and the Santa Cruz Sentinel County Football Coach of
the Year.

He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Cal State Northridge and his teaching and administrative credentials from National University.

Selene Munoz Casas is also taking over an open position. In 2006, she served in a classified position with PVUSD as a behavior technician. In 2009, she was promoted to the certificated ranks and served as a special education teacher at Pajaro Valley High School. In 2017, she was promoted again to her current administrative role as assistant principal at PVHS and oversaw special education, extended learning, directed Saturday Academy and Advanced Placement Testing.

During the 2013-14 year, Casas was honored as the Educator of the Year at PVHS. While continuing her education at San Jose State University to expand her expertise, Casas obtained her Education Specialist Credential from Cal State University Monterey Bay and a Bachelor’s Degree in History
from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
