Newly Certified and Recertified Green Businesses in Watsonville

Congratulations to the newly certified green businesses, and the re-certified businesses. Making the extra effort to green their business.

In order to become a Green Business, the business owner must implement a host of recycling, energy conservation, stormwater pollution prevention, and green purchasing measures. Examples include:

  • switching to Green Seal-certified janitorial products
  • labeling all drains on-site
  • installing water-saving devices
  • retrofitting lighting fixtures.

The Green Business Program staff also verifies that applicants are fully in compliance with all local regulations by contracting the City’s Source Control Manager, Recycling Coordinator, and the Air Resources Board. Once certified, Green Businesses can use the program logo in their advertising and the program also provides free advertising. The certified businesses set an excellent example for other businesses and in Watsonville; the program has developed strong interest as witnessed by the growing number of applicants.

The Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program has certified two new businesses and re-certified one previously certified business. There are currently two, new businesses pending certification and 17 businesses in the process of re-certifying.
