Over 1,100 Have Toured the Wastewater Recycling Plant

The City of Watsonville Public Works & Utilities and the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency sponsor middle and high school field trips to the Watsonville Wastewater Recycling Plant in order to create greater community awareness of the need to conserve valuable groundwater. The main messages for the community are that the wastewater recycling plant provides safe water for farmers and wastewater treatment prevents harmful contamination of the watershed.

One thousand seventy (1,070) middle and high school students plus 77 parents and educators toured the facility this school year. In addition, several local college classes and professional agencies have toured the facilities guided by professional wastewater Managers and Operators.

Educating our youth now will build habits in water conservation and consciousness of the important service of treating and recycling wastewater.
