PVUSD Strengthening Career Technical Education Program

From PVUSD: Committed to our goal of College and Career readiness for all students, PVUSD is strengthening its career technical education program. Implementation efforts are well underway to transition CTE back to direct oversight by our PVUSD team.

Our efforts focus on alignment with the district’s vision to provide high quality, relevant, and meaningful educational experiences to further support student achievement and opportunities.

“Using current and relevant CTE data, the District is evaluating pathways that effectively prepare
students for careers that fulfill their passions, interests and talents as well as provide a livable wage,” stated Dr. Michelle Rodriguez, Superintendent.

PVUSD is committed to continuing collaboration with local businesses, higher education institutions, and skilled community professionals to offer students the quality pathways that result in internships, certifications, and dual enrollment.

Current research indicating that students completing a CTE pathway graduate at a rate of 90 percent, nearly 15 percentage points higher than the national average. By continuing to build quality pathways, PVUSD anticipates decreased dropout rates and increased post-secondary admissions.

PVUSD will host a recruitment fair on April 13 for current County Office of Education CTE teachers.
The District anticipates retaining the majority of County Office of Education CTE teachers currently serving our students. Recruitment will open to the public once this process is completed.
