PVUSD Striving To Improve Student Attendance

The district is rolling out its "All-In, Every Day!" campaign.

From PVUSD: To heighten collaborative practices and work as one team, Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD), Pajaro Valley Federation of Teachers (PVFT) and California School Employees Association (CSEA), immersed themselves in the collaborative work of Labor Management Institute (LMI). Since February, and with a genuine focus in students’ success, the three seven-member teams have met to identify solutions to issues impacting student achievement. An outcome of those conversations is the common sense of urgency to improve attendance.

“As one team, we have reached significant strides toward expanding opportunity for all PVUSD students. Our high-quality programs step into innovation to spur on learning, and promotethe growth of all students. It is a known fact that a key factor in student achievement is being present in school every day, ready to learn. PVUSD encourages student attendance through the 2019-2020 attendance campaign, All-In, Every Day!” stated Dr. Michelle Rodriguez, Superintendent of Schools.

LMI’s philosophy of keeping student achievement at the center of decision-making weaves perfectly into PVUSD’ vision and action plans. “The District’s current innovative initiatives, including foundational literacy and computer science immersion, truly prepare students for college and career and are worth celebrating and sharing with the community. To honor the conversations among the three teams and act on the desired outcome of improved attendance, PVUSD will invest in increasing awareness of the current initiatives and programs through expanding messaging to reach all the communities we serve,” stated Francisco Rodriguez, PVFT president. Leticia Oropeza, CSEA President, is in agreement with the District’s focus in improving attendance. PVUSD recognizes the importance of promoting these initiatives as they will motivate and inspire our students and families to incorporate “All-in every day” into their learning practices.
