Residents Invited To Davenport Cement Plant Community Meeting

The County of Santa Cruz is hosting a community meeting to gather feedback about how the cement plant should be used.

WATSONVILLE, CA - From the County of Santa Cruz: Reuse of the former Davenport Cement Plant is one of the most important local land use decisions in a generation. The County of Santa Cruz has engaged a consultant to solicit community feedback and present possible reuse scenarios for the 103-acre coastal property.

RRM Design Group, the consultant team hired to develop alternatives for the site, is ready to present potential scenarios to the public. The public is invited to a community meeting to discuss these alternatives.

The scenarios are based on community feedback obtained from public comments, including from a previous public meeting. The County seeks to develop a Draft Restoration and Reuse Plan that will be supported by the
community, the Board of Supervisors, property owner Cemex Corp. and regulatory agencies such as the California Coastal Commission.
