Robbery Suspect Holed Up In Shed Taken Into Custody: Watsonville

WATSONVILLE, CA — A suspected robber who holed up in a shed in the 900 block of Lincoln Street Wednesday has been taken into custody, Watsonville police reported.

Jordan Ramirez, 29, is suspected in a violent armed robbery early Wednesday in Watsonville, and another one in Santa Cruz County over the weekend, according to the Watsonville Police Department.

Watsonville police officers spotted Ramirez driving Wednesday and attempted to pull him over. After a short chase, the suspect crashed the stolen truck he was driving into a telephone pole and a parked car, according to Watsonville police.

After fleeing on foot, Ramirez holed up the shed as police negotiators worked to coax him out Wednesday night. Police had issued a public alert, asking citizens to stay away from Lincoln, East High, Madison, and California streets.

Shortly before 10 p.m., WPD announced Ramirez was in custody.

Ramirez had a passenger with him during the chase. That person was detained by officers at the scene, according to the WPD.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office drone team assisted in tracking down Ramirez.
