Rape Exams To Be Conducted In Santa Cruz County Again
Some adult victims have traveled as far as San Jose for an exam due to staffing shortages, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office plans to once more offer local rape exams for adult victims in April, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported.
Victims have traveled to San Jose-based Valley Medical Center Sexual Assault Response Team since September 2017 as the county grappled with nursing staff shortages. Some 60 rape victims per year have had to travel to San Jose, the Sentinel reported.
Victims will soon be able to receive exams at Dominican Hospital, though victims 12 years and younger will still go to Valley Medical Center to receive specialized care, the paper reported.
