See: 92-Foot Yacht Sinks Near Monterey Bay; 2 Rescued
A 92-foot yacht sank near Monterey Bay, the Coast Guard said. Its occupants were brought back to land, uninjured.
MONTEREY BAY, CA β A 92-foot yacht carrying 1,200 gallons of diesel fuel sank about nine miles south of Monterey Bay Thursday evening, the Coast Guard said.
Crew members aboard the Going Coastal reported their yacht was taking on water around 11:45 a.m., but followed up with the Coast Guard later to say flooding was under control, the Coast Guard said in a news release. The Coast Guard arrived to the location about 35 miles south of Monterey Bay around 1:30 p.m., brought a dewatering pump into the yacht and started to haul it back toward the bay.
The crew noticed the yacht was flooding more quickly around 3:45 p.m. Another Coast Guard crew arrived around 4:55 p.m. with a rescue swimmer and second dewatering pump, the Coast Guard said.

A half hour later, the shop lost electrical and engine power. It was flooding even faster, the Coast Guard said.
Crew members aboard the Going Coastal were rescued with no injuries and the yacht sank. They were brought to Monterey, the Coast Guard said.

The yacht's owner is working with his insurance company to salvage the boat and the Coast Guard said it must sign off on the salvage plan. A San Francisco-based helicopter was scheduled to fly over the scene at 8 a.m.
