SEE: Central Coast Deer Freed After Antlers Stuck In Rope Swing
The buck was stuck for at least a day when Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals staff freed him.
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — A buck's antlers became entangled in a rope swing hanging from a tree, causing him to stay trapped in a Carmel Valley backyard for at least a day until rescuers arrived Tuesday, according to SPCA Monterey County.
As the buck tried to free himself, he became more and more entangled. When he was spotted, someone called 911 and firefighters arrived, according to SPCA. Firefighters contacted the SPCA Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Center.
The buck continued to spin in circles in an attempt to free himself. An SPCA rescuer climbed the tree to hold the swing in place and limit the deer's movements. SPCA carefully pinned the deer down to allow firefighters to cut the rope from his antlers, SPCA said.
