Shelter In Place Due To Power Plant Fire, Monterey Co. Says
Monterey County officials are asking people to shelter in place and to shut all windows and turn off ventilation systems Tuesday morning.
MOSS LANDING, CA — Monterey County officials are asking people to shelter in place Tuesday morning because of a hazardous materials response in the Moss Landing area that has shut down state Highway 1 in the area.
An early morning fire at a power plant in the area caused the emergency response, with county officials telling people in the area west of Dolan and Via Tanques roads, south of Struve Road and north of Potrero Road to shut their windows and turn off their ventilation systems.
California Highway Patrol and Caltrans officials estimate that the Highway 1 closure in the area will last into the afternoon.
More details about the power plant fire were not immediately available.
