In Watsonville: Top Tech with Company 30 Years

Martin Carillo has been working for Fix Auto Watsonville (formerly Watsonville Auto Body) for 30 years! That's a long time in any industry..

There is a great group of technicians at Fix Auto Watsonville. Many technicians have the company for years and years. One top tech is Martin Carillo. Carillo has been working for Fix Auto Watsonville (formerly Watsonville Auto Body) for nearly thirty years. Thirty years is a long time in any industry, but for the auto industry this is exceptionally impressive. Turnover is usually pretty great with technicians in body shops –so having such a great employee for all of these years is definitely something worth noting!

Martin grew up in Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico. When he was 14 years old, his dad brought his family to Watsonville, CA to work and to pursue education. Carillo went to high school in Watsonville and then attended Hartnell College where he studied to be an auto body technician. After college, he needed to get a job and he found WAB. That was in 1986. He has been working for the company ever since.

Martin is “a WAB technician, so [he gets] to fix any car wreck big or small!” When asked what it is about the company that has kept him all of these years, Martin answered, “I would say mutual loyalty from me to the company and vice versa.” His favorite part about his job is “seeing the final repairs and knowing it was repaired right, to the industry’s standards.” That’s a great part for him to love considering the massive amount of repairs he’s been a part of during these last three decades. It’s employees like Martin that make Fix Auto Watsonville into what it is today.
