Watsonville Homicide Suspect Arrested

He was taken into custody after a standoff that lasted for hours.

WATSONVILLE — A man suspected of shooting and killing a man Monday night in Watsonville has been taken into custody, the Police Department said on social media at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers had been searching for 44-year-old Hector Rocha who allegedly killed a 42-year-old man in the 100 block of West Beach Street.

Police said Rocha, who had been described as armed with a rifle and dangerous, was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff. Watsonville Police have not released more details at this time.

Officers initially responded at 8:45 p.m. Monday to reports of a shooting and located the victim who died at the scene, according to police.
