Watsonville Police Investigate Fatal Shooting
A 24-year-old man was shot Friday near Callaghan Park and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police are investigating a Friday shooting in Watsonville that left a man dead.
Watsonville police said officers responded at about 11:21 a.m. to the area of Callaghan Park in the 700 block of Freedom Boulevard to a report of shots fired.
Police located a 24-year-old Hispanic man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Police said a 31-year-old Hispanic man was also at the scene attempting to assist the shooting victim.

The man who was shot was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the victims were confronted by the suspects near the scene of the shooting, and the suspects later drove by the victims as they were walking down Freedom Boulevard and fired shots, hitting one of the men.

The suspects then fled the area.
Police said the victim who was not injured in the shooting wasn’t able to provide information on the suspects, but the shooting appears to be gang-motivated.
Police have not released the identities of the victims.
