Watsonville Police Officer Retires After 24 Years Of Service

WATSONVILLE,CA — Watsonville Police Master Officer Angel Calderon is retiring after 24 years of service to the community, the police department announced Thursday.

Calderon started as a cadet with Watsonville police in 1982. He spent five years as an officer with Scotts Valley Police before returning to the Watsonville Police Department in 2000, police said.

He received 40 letters of commendation throughout his career and most recently worked individually with people struggling with mental illness. He hopes to continue that work upon retirement, police said.
