Watsonville Police Received Hundreds Of Illegal Fireworks Calls

It was a busy Fourth of July for Watsonville police officers and firefighters alike.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Watsonville police received hundreds of calls regarding illegal fireworks usage and issued 27 fireworks-related tickets surrounding the Fourth of July holiday this year.

Firefighters were busy too, the Watsonville Police Department said in a statement. They responded to more than 20 calls of fires and medical events in a 24-hour period over the holiday, and were patrolling for illegal firework use to prevent fires.

Police confiscated dozens of illegal fireworks and turned them over to Cal Fire for disposal.
