Watsonville Police Seek Man Wanted For Attempted Murder
Police are looking for a 20-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Watsonville.
WATSONVILLE - Police are looking for a 20-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Watsonville.
Detectives have secured a search warrant for Jacob Gooden for allegedly shooting someone in the area of Prospect and Lincoln streets on April 5, police Detective Sgt. Eric Montalbo said.
Officers had responded around 7 p.m. that day to a report of a victim shot multiple times, police said. There were three suspects who spoke with a 24-year-old man and one of them shot him before they fled in a brown or gold car, according to police.

The victim fled on foot from the scene and his friends drove him to a hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his upper torso that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Two other suspects, 20-year-old Alexis Ortiz of Las Lomas and 18-year-old Carlos Valdivia of Castroville, have already been arrested, Montalbo said.
Detectives have found four firearms in the case and arrested a 17-year-old for an alleged firearms crime unrelated to the April 5 shooting, Montalbo said.
Investigators have a warrant out for Gooden, who is wanted on an attempted murder charge with a gang enhancement, according to Montalbo.
Gooden may have connections with gangs in Watsonville and the Monterey County communities of Las Lomas and Castroville, Montalbo said.
The outstanding suspect is considered armed and dangerous, Montablo said.
