Watsonville Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Arrest
There were open alcohol containers in addition to the loaded gun.

WATSONVILLE, CA - A Friday traffic stop in Watsonville led to the arrest of a man in connection with possessing a firearm in a vehicle.
At 8:03 p.m., a Watsonville police officer pulled over Jesus Abundis Macias, 48, in the area of Alta Vista Street and Santa Clara Street for a vehicle code violation, police said. During the stop, the officer noticed several open alcoholic beverages in the vehicle, police said.
The driver, identified as Macias, and a passenger were detained as officers searched the vehicle for other open alcohol containers. During the search, officers located a loaded pistol in the vehicle, police said.

Macias was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possession of an unregistered firearm. The passenger in the vehicle was not arrested.
