Watsonville's Cesar Chavez Middle School Without Heat For Months

Some students at Cesar Chavez Middle School have been without heat at school for months and brought blankets to class, KSBW reported.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Cesar Chavez Middle School in the Pajaro Valley Unified School District has not had heat since September 23, KSBW reported. Administrators told the station that they cut off the gas lines due to problems with aging infrastructure and a series of gas leaks at the campus.

The district is working with a contractor to fix heating issues, district spokesperson Alicia Jimenez told Patch.

Some students bring blankets to school. One student told a KSBW reporter that the lack of heat and made her shiver in class and hinder her ability to concentrate.

A district administrator told KSBW they have worked with school leaders and distributed heaters to classrooms. The district plans to hold a meeting to address concerns and problems, KSBW reported.
