What started as a love affair with wine has turned into a passion for Michael Simons, winemaker and owner of Comanche Cellars in Monterey, CA. Renowned for producing small lots of handcrafted wines from neighboring vineyards, Comanche Cellars takes advantage of the incredible wealth of vineyards that can be found throughout the Santa Lucia Highlands, Arroyo Seco, San Antonio Valley and Santa Cruz Mountains AVA’s.
This will be Simons’ second wine pouring and tasting event at the Annieglass wine bar, and this time, he shares his passion for the region’s natural bounty with Chef Beverlie Terra, who will be performing a live cooking demonstration utilizing fresh produce from High Ground Organics farm stand at the Annieglass studio and pairing her finished dish with Comanche Cellars wines.

Chef Terra has over 32 years professional cooking experience, was the former executive chef at Chaminade and currently works at Sweet Earth Foods in Moss Landing.
Growing on about 40 acres in Watsonville, High Ground Organics is a local family farm dedicated to growing flavorful and nourishing vegetables, while paying close attention to environmental stewardship. After ten years at the site of the old Redman House property, High Ground Organics moved its farmstand to the parking lot at the Annieglass studio.
Since 1983 Annieglass artist/founder Annie Morhauser has been locally handcrafting glass tableware and serving pieces with the understanding that gathering around a table with good food, surrounded by friends and family, nourishes the soul. Annieglass’ weekend Pour & Tour wine tasting and factory tours at their Watsonville production studio has helped to forge the connection between Annieglass’ craft and the food movement, and the addition of High Ground Organics’ farmstand brings Annieglass’ celebration of food full circle, back to the source.
Annieglass will also be celebrating the new mural artwork painted onto the Annieglass studio building and High Ground Organics farmstand by talented local artist Taylor Reinhold.
Annieglass welcomes all to enjoy the tastes and sights of our region from 1:00 to 3:30pm on Saturday, November 7 during this special Meet the Maker event!
