Winners Announced For Cesar Chavez Community Awards

Nominations were submitted by the community and reviewed by an awards committee before determining winners.

The Friends of Watsonville Park and Community Services and the City of Watsonville have announced the winners of the 18th Annual Cesar Chavez Community Awards that was held virtually on July 30. The Cesar Chavez Community Awards recognizes individuals and organizations who intentionally engage youth in positive-prosocial activities and provide them with leadership opportunities that empower them to help others and contribute to their community. Nominations were submitted by the community and reviewed by an awards committee before determining winners.

The evening included a welcome by Watsonville Mayor Rebecca Garcia, who said, "Cesar Chavez advocated that service to the community be valued by all. Our awardees are examples of the tremendous commitment to serving Watsonville."

The annual award ceremony is usually held in March but was postponed until the July 30th event.
