Work Continues on the First Adaptive Traffic Control System

Installation of camera cables has been completed from Martinelli St. to Green Valley Rd.

Work along Freedom Boulevard for the installation of the City’s first adaptive traffic control systems continues. Installation of camera cables has been completed from Martinelli St. to Green Valley Rd. Crews began installing vehicle detection cameras today at Clifford Av. While the cameras are being installed the traffic signals will be placed on flashing red, exercise caution and expect delays during the day.

Traffic at the intersection of Freedom Blvd. and Airport Blvd. will experience delays throughout the day and night. The traffic signal does not have vehicle detection and therefore motorists will observe that a green light is being displayed to a direction that has no traffic. This is done to ensure that each movement received a green light.

Work on the installation of the adaptive traffic signal control system cameras should be completed by August 12th. Questions or comments can be directed to Adolfo Gonzalez at 831-768-3140 or adolfo.gonzalez@cityofwatsonville.org
