Youth N.O.W. Celebrates Graduating Seniors and Accomplished Youth at Cultivating Success 2016 Annual Event

The word “love” was used a lot during Youth N.O.W’s 2016 Cultivating Success Annual event, and one could definitely feel the love in the room that night. Staff and volunteers each took turns making speeches about their passion for Watsonville’s youth. Middle School recreation manager, Willie Bobo, touched the hearts of all when he presented Middle School student, Tony Godinez, with an award for Leadership, sharing stories of Godinez’ kind heart and good nature.

Youth N.O.W. celebrated 22 graduating seniors, as well as, six awardees on May 27th at El Alteῆo restaurant. Golliath Martinez, graduating senior headed to Cogswell Polytechnic, walked up to the mic with tears in his eyes and blew the crowd away telling the room what Youth N.O.W. has done for him. Martinez has been attending Youth N.O.W. since its opening year in 2010 and said “Youth N.O.W. is like a second home to me.” Martinez was not the only senior to feel the love of Youth N.O.W. Saul Reyes who will be attending UC Merced in the fall was honored for Academic Dedication and in his speech he said “I love Youth N.O.W. because the staff provided a healthy and welcoming environment for me to study and hang out with my friends.”
