1 Robbery Suspect in Custody After Intense Ground Search in WeHo
Three men were accused of pistol-whipping a victim during a robbery. Authorities started a ground search that included police dogs, chopper.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA - One of three men suspected of robbing two people on a street in West Hollywood, pistol-whipping one of them, was captured Tuesday morning in a search that involved sheriff's deputies on the ground, police dogs and a helicopter crew, the sheriff's department reported.
The robbery took place about 9:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Hilldale Avenue, said Lt. Vance Duffy, watch commander at sheriff's West Hollywood station.
One of the victims was pistol-whipped, Duffy said. The victim's condition was not immediately reported.

The three robbers then fled into an area around Melrose Avenue, between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards, according to the sheriff's department.
"We set up a containment, brought in K-9 units and an airship and then began a ground search of the area," Duffy said early this morning. "We caught one of the men but the other two are still outstanding."

Duffy said the search ended early Tuesday morning after a search perimeter was thoroughly combed. The suspected robber was expected to be booked early Tuesday morning.
