WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — Sheriff's detectives Friday are investigating a robbery at a high-end luxury consignment store in West Hollywood where thieves left clothing strewn in and outside of the store during the smash and grab burglary.
The burglary was reported at 1:17 a.m. Friday at the Real Real, in the 8500 block of Melrose Avenue, at LaCienega where detectives said the thieves used a pickup truck to crash though the storefront.
"We don't know yet exactly what was taken during the robbery," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Nick Aguirre told City News Service. "We think there were multiples suspects involved."
According to witnesses, the thieves used the pickup truck as a makeshift battering ram to break into the store. The break-in left shattered glass throughout the area and high-end merchandise on the floor and haphazardly strewn all over the store.
"We'll have a better idea what was taken after we process the scene," Aguirre said.
The robbery closed several streets around Melrose and LaCienega near the store.
