Hate Crimes, Westside Robberies Up (wehoonline.com) β West Hollywood's latest safety report shows serious crime down nearly 12% so far this year, but with sharp increases in hate crimes and Westside robberies that many residents are feeling. The City Council will review the data Tuesday, alongside a proposal to add two unarmed Community Safety Officers to support deputies on lower-priority calls.

2. 'This Is How We Do It.' Planning Commission Rewrites WeHo Affordable Housing Plan (wehoonline.com) β West Hollywood's Planning Commission has unanimously backed a revised affordable housing plan that keeps higher requirements for larger projects but eases proposed increases on the smallest developments. Commissioners also pushed for more flexibility in income levels served, tied new incentives to extremely low-income units, and revealed the city's Affordable Housing Trust Fund currently has a zero balance as the proposal heads to City Council.

3. 'Super cute' Hello Kitty cards draw crowds to the L.A. County Library (latimes.com subscription) β Hello Kitty-themed L.A. County Library cards proved so popular that the West Hollywood branch ran out on launch day, along with several other locations. The limited-edition cards, featuring multiple Sanrio characters, are available through October 18, and residents may still find them at other branches or bookmobiles while supplies last.

OnlyFans model probed for possibly drugging Beverly Hills billionaire with ketamine, warrant says (mercurynews.com) β An OnlyFans model accused of targeting wealthy dates is under expanded investigation that includes alleged thefts from victims in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and Westlake Village. Prosecutors say Adva Lavie used dating apps between 2023 and 2025 to steal luxury items and cash, while police now also probe whether she secretly drugged a billionaire ex-fiancΓ© with ketamine.

LAPD detectives and the family seek help solving four-year-old murder of West Hollywood chef (westsidetoday.com) β A chef who worked at Tom Tom in West Hollywood was fatally shot in South Los Angeles in 2022, and detectives are again asking for the public's help. Investigators believe 40-year-old James Henry Hall III was ambushed over his red sneakers, and they're urging anyone with information about the dark Infiniti SUV or three gunmen to contact LAPD.
