Today's riddle: Why do Norway's navy ships all have barcodes? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Man shot in the back near Fugazi store on Holloway Drive; deputies close street as sheriff's deputies search for suspects (smobserved.com) — Sheriff's deputies shut down part of Holloway Drive between Palm and Hancock in West Hollywood after reports that a man was shot in the back, possibly while inside a black Ferrari near the Fugazi store. Details remain fluid, but LASD's West Hollywood Station is leading the investigation, with one person reportedly hospitalized and no suspect information or motive confirmed yet.
2. Men's Health Foundation Opens The Front Porch Coffee Shop in West Hollywood's Rainbow District (wehotimes.com) — A new community-focused café, The Front Porch LA, has opened on Santa Monica Boulevard at Hancock Avenue, restoring a daytime gathering spot in West Hollywood's Rainbow District. Backed by the Men's Health Foundation, it offers coffee, baked goods, and light meals now, with an expanded menu and community events planned after kitchen renovations, and is currently open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
3. West Hollywood Gets Affordable Housing. The Developer Gets Six Billboards. What's the Catch? (wehoonline.com) — West Hollywood's Planning Commission has advanced a 34‑story tower at 1000 N. La Brea with 514 apartments, including 128 affordable units, plus roughly 30,000 square feet of commercial space. In exchange, the developer could get six large billboards along La Brea for up to 55 years, testing how far the city will go in trading new advertising for much‑needed affordable housing.
4. Stolen Mercedes Tracked Through West Hollywood, Two Detained (wehoonline.com) — A stolen Mercedes was tracked along Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood Monday morning, where Sheriff's deputies stopped the car on Clark Street and detained two people. The incident renews attention on West Hollywood's Flock license plate cameras and broader debates over how much the city should rely on deputies, security ambassadors, and surveillance technology as a local election approaches.
