• California city weighs 82-degree limit for rentals as nearly 5,800 homes lack AC (thecooldown.com) — West Hollywood officials are weighing whether to draft rules that would cap indoor temperatures in rental homes, after estimates showed nearly 5,800 local households lack air conditioning. City staff would still need to study the right temperature, consult tenants and landlords, and bring a proposal through commissions, but supporters argue heat waves make it urgent to protect renters from dangerously hot apartments.
• Viral Video Shows Pair Posing Inside Active Ambulance (eurweb.com) — A viral video reportedly filmed in West Hollywood shows a man posing and smoking inside an open ambulance while a woman photographs him, until a bystander moves them so paramedics can load a patient. The clip has sparked anger online and questions about whether their behavior might violate California laws against obstructing emergency medical personnel, though no charges have been reported.
• Fury as vandals scrawl seven-letter slur across California church that invites gay people inside (nypost.com) — A beloved LGBTQ+-affirming church, St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hollywood, was vandalized with a homophobic slur scrawled across its sign, sparking outrage among congregants and supporters. The article highlights the church's long history of welcoming gay parishioners, especially during the AIDS crisis, and its visible presence at West Hollywood Pride, underscoring community resilience in the face of hate.
