BLOG: Musings

General thoughts from news items.

The annual Running of the Bulls at Pamplona is finally over. Perhaps that archaic, still-in-the-Middle-Ages, Spanish city could find more humane animal activities to sponsor, like Adopt a Pet on Sundays, as we have in West Hollywood. Not suggesting we put up bulls for adoption, so please leave my comments box empty!

Fifteen people have died and scores have been injured over the years pursuing this silly 14th Century ritual, which is cruel to scared animals, and a reckless danger to the fools who tease and try to outrun panicked bulls. There must be something better to do to stimulate tourism in Spain, right?

Ernest Borgnine died this past weekend at Cedars Sinai at the ripe age of 95. It was a pleasure to meet him several times over the years, including a screening of Marty not too long ago. Many actors, established and not, would be do well to look up some of his quotes about how to make it and “keep it” as an actor. He was a fine gent. So long, Ernie.

Just a bit of housekeeping: Let’s hope Chris W. at West Hollywood Recreational Services will repair the tennis court atop WEHO Park soon, as he and I discussed two weeks ago. It’s only a net strap, Chris, c’mon!
