My 9/11 Photo Shoot

On September 11th, I had a photo shoot done in New York City by world famous photographer, Kenn Duncan which would end up being a permanent exhibit at Lincoln Center at the theatre library.

Who knew that a photo shoot of my headshot photos I had taken by a very famous photographer, Kenn Duncan that would end up being part of a collection on file at the famous New York Public Library, The Billy Rose Theatre Division at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza.

My photos were shot on September 11, 1984 and I had graduated from NYU three months before and I was referred to the well-known photographer, Kenn Duncan to shoot my photos. He was known as the theatre and dance photographer in NYC and the world at the time.

So decades later his family donated his massive collection to the Lincoln Library. “Guide to the Kenn Duncan Photograph Archive, ca. 1960-1986” There are Over 600,000 items are estimated to be in the collection that represents the whole of Duncan's work as a photographer.

Decades had passed and one day when I was googling and found that my name was attached to photos of Kenn Duncan’s at the Lincoln Library and the date of the photos that were shot of me were done on September 11th, 1984.

A date that had no relevance or significance at all only after the September 11th, 2001 attack does this date now have only one reminder and event attached to it.
