Patch Blog: Woman helping women at the West Hollywood Women's Leadership Conference
Women helping women at the WeHo Women's Leadership Conference: Unlimited Opportunities – Knowledge.Power.Community
I attended the WeHo Women's Leadership Conference held April 13-14 and am very impressed at the organization and sheer scope of the program. It's all about the philosophy of West Hollywood embracing Women, Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgendered people living full lives and being successful members of society. It was such a welcoming space for everyone to live life to the fullest.
The kickoff was a screening of the film Miss Representation which is a documentary about the lack of women in position of Power and Influence in America, the limited portrayal of women in media and the definition of being a powerful woman in our society. It's a powerful film with a slice of life from the viewpoint of Mrs. Siebel Newsom, a woman who had recently had a daughter and her concern about the opportunities not only her daughter but other women's daughters faced in America. Afterward, we were able to have a lively discussion about women in our society.
I chose to attend the Reinvent U! workshop and the Change Careers Now - And Do It Right workshop. Both were about professional development and successfully transitioning to a new career.
