VIDEO: West Hollywood Celebrates Gay Pride
More than half a million revelers partake in the 2011 Pride Parade in West Hollywood Sunday.
It's so poignant that Ellen Barkin just won The Tony for The Normal Heart a revival about the AIDS epidemic. Today, Los Angeles celebrates with their annual parade in West Hollywood, attracting up to 400,000 spectators. I began my adventure walking out my door (in West Hollywood) to do interviews, shoot video, and just experience this event in my community.
I met and saw people from all walks of life, celebrating together, peacefully. What a great adventure. As a straight woman, in this very gay community, I couldn't help but reflect on the importance of community—no matter who you are, where you're from and whatever your sexual preference.
