Burst Water Main Floods Hollywood Hills Neighborhood
Residents in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood awoke to find their cars underwater thanks to a massive water main rupture.
A break in an 18-inch water main caused some flooding in the Hollywood Hills today, authorities said.
The problem was reported in the 6400 block of Dix Street around 2 a.m., authorities said. A parking lot near a residential building was flooded, damaging some vehicles.
Crews were sent to handle the problem, which affected about 20 customers, said Kim Hughes of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

“It’s definitely not the best way to wake up,” a resident told Fox11. “I woke up to a knock at my door, and my roommate telling me ‘hey your car is under water.”’
A basement also was flooded. The pipe is almost 90 years old.
