April 10th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Center for Early Education
563 North Alfred Street
West Hollywood, CA 90048-2512

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) will highlight some of the great apps and websites available for kids to learn and play on their mobile devices (phones, tablets) along with their parents and grandparents. You will also learn more about how to use Common Sense Media's learning ratings as a guide to find great and potentially educational stuff in the virtual space.

The evening will begin with a panel talk on stage with a great mix of speakers -- Eric Gradman (Two Bit Circus, an engineering and entertainment company), Dr. Patricia Greenfield (UCLA's Children's Digital Media Center), and Ingrid Simone (Senior Apps Editor at Common Sense Media), with Dr. Yalda T. Uhls (Regional Director, Common Sense Media) moderating. After a Q & A session, everyone will get a chance to break out into roundtable workshops.

This event is BYOD (bring your own device) so that people are familiar with the device they use and can apply this knowledge at home. There will also be about 30 iPads available for those who do not bring a device. Brief cautionary guidance on amount of device usage, limits, privacy, etc. will be shared as well, but main focus is on the positive apps at our disposal.
