Dwayne Johnson's Daughter Is New Golden Globe Ambassador

Simone Garcia Johnson has been chosen for the position formerly known as Miss/Mr. Golden Globe.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – Actor Dwayne Johnson's daughter, Simone Garcia Johnson, has been chosen to serve as the Golden Globe Ambassador, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Wednesday.

The association announced the rebranding of the position formerly known as Miss/Mr. Golden Globe at a party at CatchLA in West Hollywood.

"As we look forward to the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members decided to expand this role to embody the HFPA's philanthropic efforts year-round,” association President Meher Tatna said.

Garcia Johnson recently signed with IMG Models. Her mother is producer Dany Garcia, chairwoman of Seven Bucks Productions.

"I've been lucky enough to grow up in a household with strong role models and feel so honored to represent the HFPA for its 75th anniversary," Garcia Johnson said.

"As the newly minted Golden Globe Ambassador, I hope to serve as a role model to young people everywhere and empower them to speak out on issues they are passionate about."

Miss Golden Globe was traditionally a daughter of a well-known celebrity and handed out awards at the ceremony. Previous Miss Golden Globes included Laura Dern, a daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern, Joely Fisher, a daughter of Connie Stevens and Eddie Fisher, and Melanie Griffith, a daughter of Tippi Hedren.

Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet Stallone, the daughters of Golden Globe- winning actor Sylvester Stallone, were Miss Golden Globes for the 2017 ceremony.

Freddie Prinze Jr., son of the late actor-comedian Freddie Prinze, and Sam Fox, the son of the actor Michael J. Fox, were Mr. Golden Globes.

The Golden Globe Awards ceremony will be held Jan. 7 at The Beverly Hilton.
