Fairfax High Football Kicks Off Sept. 9
The Lions open with three road games, the first at Harvard-Westlake.

Practice has begun and the 2011 season is less than one month away for the Fairfax High varsity football team, which will try to build off last year when it finished 12-3-1 and won the Los Angeles City Section's Division II championship, routing Chatsworth 51-7 in the final.
The Lions once again open their season with an intersectional contest at Harvard-Westlake, a private CIF Southern Section school in North Hollywood, on September 9. The teams played to a 14-14 tie in last year's opener.
After road games against Valley Mission League opponents Canoga Park and Reseda, Fairfax wraps up nonleague play against Northern League schools L.A. Marshall (at home Sept. 30) and L.A. Wilson (on the road October 6).

Then, it's on to the Western League, where Fairfax tied for second place with Palisades last season, but was seeded lower in the playoffs after losing to the Dolphins 44-34.
Venice has won nine consecutive league crowns and Fairfax will get the first crack at knocking the Gondoliers from their perch when they meet Oct. 13 at Fairfax. Five of the six Western League teams, including Fairfax, will compete in Division I this season.
