His Excellency João Vale de Almeida

On June 4th, the European Union’s Ambassador to
the United States,
Joao Vale de Almeida will address the Los Angeles World Affairs Council over a
dinner. Ambassador Vale de Almeida will be discussing recent revivals of fear
about Russia’s role in
Europe after the Russian annexation of Crimea, and the strategy of both the
European Union and the United
States in forming meaningful economic and
political responses. Based in Washington D.C., Ambassador Vale de Almeida has an insider’s view of
these strategies and what they could mean in future relations with Russia.
Ambassador Vale de Almeida will also be talking about the negotiations between
the US and the EU on the “Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership,” that
would be the largest free trade agreement in the world, with a potential to increase
trade between the US and Europe by $180 billion a year, and create 2 million
new jobs.
