Lindsay Lohan Tweets About Her Failed Drug Test

The actress turns to her Twitter page to acknowledge her substance abuse and the possibility of appearing in court in the near future.

Actress Lindsay Lohan, a West Hollywood resident, confirmed on Friday night via Twitter that she failed a court-ordered drug test. Under the terms of Lohan's probation, she could be sent back to jail for 30 days for failing a drug test.

TMZ.com first broke the story Friday afternoon and reported the 24-year-old actress had tested positive for cocaine. Below are Lohan's  Twitter posts about overcoming substance abuse and the possibility of appearing in court in the near future.

"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result. Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away overnight. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future," Lohan said on Twitter.

"This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences. I am so thankful for the support of my fans, loved ones and immediate family, who understand that I am trying hard, but also that I am a work in progress, just as anyone else. I am keeping my faith, and I am hopeful....Thank you all!!!"

According to wire reports, Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, said prosecutors had not been ''officially notified'' about an alleged failed test. A court date for Lohan to appear before Judge Elden Fox  has not been announced.
