Censorship is the topic of a panel discussion for the final of the city’s Big Read 2012 events. “Censorship Today and the Enduring Legacy of Fahrenheit 451” will feature LA Times book critic David Ulin moderating a panel consisting of playwright/author Diane Lefer, novelist Leslie Schwartz and PEN Center USA executive director Adam Somers. The discussion gets underway at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber on street level of the . Free and open to all.

Ellen’s Chef Leaves Out the Meat
Ellen DeGeneres' personal chef, Roberto Martin, shares over 125 vegan recipes he's created for Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi in his new book Vegan Cooking for Carnivores: Over 125 Recipes So Tasty You Won't Miss the Meat. Martin wrote the cookbook in hopes of making healthy vegan cooking accessible and easy for everyone. Learn more as Martin discusses the book and then autographs copies at starting at 7 p.m.

Known for profane, humorous lyrics and exaggerated stage personas, this band manages to both parody and pay homage to the great glam metal bands of the 1980s like Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue and Poison.
