Police Blotter: Burglarized Homes and Businesses

Six burglarized vehicles also make this week's crime roundup.

Don't let your guard down at home: Lock your doors and keep your dogs on alert as there were three residential burglaries in the past week in West Hollywood. One resident reported a loss of $17,800 as a result of a burglary in his home. Read on for more information on incidents that occurred within the past week as compiled by the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station.

Bicycle thefts

Someone stole two bicycles on the 1100 block of Kings Road on Sept. 1 at about 8 a.m. The bikes were taken from an apartment building's subterranean garage. The loss was valued at about $900.

A thief stole a $300 bike Sept. 4 at about 5 p.m. from an apartment complex located on the 9000 block of Keith Avenue.

Commercial crime

The manager of a retail business reported Sept. 2 that someone stole a large quantity of video games from a store on the 7100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. The total loss was estimated at about $2,070.

A $1,000 electric guitar was stolen Sept. 4 at about 10 p.m. from a nightclub lounge on the 8400 block of Sunset Boulevard.

Residential burglaries

A burglar entered a residence on the 9000 block of Ashcroft Avenue on Sept. 3 at about 7 a.m. and stole a $1,800 laptop computer and a watch valued at about $3,000.

A man reported that a burglar entered his residence on the 1100 block of Clark Drive on Sept. 4 at about 5 p.m. and stole a camera bag, camera, lenses, microphones, memory cards and other items. The loss was estimated at about $17,800.

A burglar stole several tools from a house that was being remodeled on the 300 block of San Vicente Boulevard on Sept. 7 at about 10:30 a.m. The loss was estimated at about $195.

Stolen bags

After leaving her purse hanging on the back of a chair unattended during a party, a hotel guest discovered that someone had stolen the $300 purse containing identification, cash and a $200 cellular phone. The theft occurred Sept. 4 on the 1000 block of San Vicente Boulevard.

While dining at a restaurant on the 8900 block of Sunset Boulevard on Sept. 5 at about 1 p.m., a woman had her wallet stolen from her purse that was hanging on the back of her chair. The loss was about $185.

A man had his passport, identification and about $700 stolen as he was standing on the sidewalk on the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Sept. 7 at about 2:30 a.m.

Deputies' log

  • Following a traffic collision, a male driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
  • Three suspects were arrested on suspicion of theft or burglary after allegedly being observed shoplifting at local retail businesses.
  • Six vehicles were burglarized by unknown suspects. The total estimate of damage and articles taken was $7,387.
  • One vehicle was reported stolen.
  • Three reported stolen vehicles were recovered and the owners notified.
  • Fourteen vehicles were impounded for 30 days because they were being driven by an unlicensed driver or a person with a suspended or revoked license.
